RYA Shorebased
RYA Diesel Engine
A one-day hands-on course covering the operation, maintenance and basic troubleshooting of a marine diesel engine — ideal for skippers and crew who want to keep their engine reliable and fix common problems at sea.
About this course
The RYA Diesel Engine course teaches you how a marine diesel engine works and how to look after it. You will learn about the fuel, cooling, lubrication and electrical systems, routine maintenance and winterisation, and how to diagnose and fix the most common faults such as fuel blockages, overheating and starting problems. The course is largely practical, working on a real engine, and no prior mechanical experience is needed.
